Concept Map of Social Studies CSEC Syllabus
The images below are of concept maps of the Social Studies Syllabus. A concept map is a visual image or depiction of particular concepts or topics. The purpose of the concept map (although not entirely shown here) is to make linkages of the various topics. So, you should understand that all concepts that you do in Social Studies are related. For example, in the first picture below, you can see that Section A is divided into various topics: Family, Social Issues, Groups, Institutions and Government. However, these topics should not be treated in isolation since the family is also seen as a group and many of the social issues that occur take place in the family or governments need to deal with social issues. The concepts in Section A and B and C can also be linked. For instance, the Government can impact on Tourism, so too can Regional Integration and the Resources of a country and families are also affected by the distribution of resources. It is important to remember that in order to fully understand Sections B & C, you need to grasp the concepts of Section A and realise that all the concepts are intertwined and linked to each other. I hope that the Concept Maps below would make the Syllabus clearer for the more visual learners.
The picture above is a more detailed version of Section A in the Syllabus (the Individual, Family and Society) which include the topics you should be familiar with in each concept.

The image above shows the concepts in Section B of the Syllabus (Sustainable Development and Use of Resources).

In the last Section C, there are other topics such as Communications and Consumer Affairs. We would be studying Tourism, so you are to do that question in your exam paper.
